Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that utilizes clear aligners to straighten your teeth. Invisalign aligners are made of smooth plastic. You may experience some slight pressure when you first start wearing your aligners. This feeling goes away after a few days of wearing your aligners.
So how does this process work? Once your dentist has determined that you are a candidate for Invisalign, they will take impressions of your teeth. These impressions will then be sent to Invisalign, who will then create your custom aligners. You will wear these aligners for about two weeks each. You will continue this process until you have worn your aligners for about two weeks.
After Invisalign has created your aligners, you will come back to your dentist’s office to pick up your aligners. Now, it is time to start straightening your teeth! You will wear your aligners for 22 hours every day. However, it is okay to take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Your dentist will tell you how long to wear your aligners each day, and you will change your aligners every two weeks.
Virtually Invisible
Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible, unlike traditional braces. They’re also removable, so you can eat whatever you want during treatment. And you can brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene.
Comfortable
Invisalign aligners are smooth, comfortable, and fit snugly over your teeth. Therefore, they are less likely to irritate your cheeks and gums than braces. Many people who wear Invisalign aligners report that they do not experience any soreness, discomfort, or pain.
Convenient
Invisalign is a convenient alternative to braces for many patients. Instead of metal wires and brackets, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners. You wear each set of aligners for 2 weeks, then switch them out for the next set in the series.
Because you can remove the aligners, you can eat whatever you want and brush and floss your teeth as you normally would.
Removable
Invisalign aligners are removable. This means you can take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss. Then, you can brush and floss normally and reinsert your teeth.
You can also remove your aligners for a special occasion or an important meeting.
Effective
When compared to traditional braces, Invisalign offers some benefits that might make this orthodontic treatment more appealing. For one, Invisalign is more comfortable. Traditional braces use metal wires and brackets that can hurt your mouth. Invisalign uses smooth, plastic aligners that are comfortable to wear.
